We’ve taken you back in time to when horror first hit the screen, before making a glorious pit-stop at the decadent ’80s with The Hunger. Now, we’re showcasing the best at what Gen-Z horror has to offer with a bloodthirsty but hilarious (and oddly heartwarming) mashup whose original working title says it all: ‘Freaky Friday the 13th’.
Where director Christopher Landon’s previous horror comedy mashed the slasher genre with Groundhog Day, this one offers a cheeky dark twist on the body swap genre, as Vince Vaugh’s slasher villain trades flesh-prisons with Kathryn Newton’s put-upon teenager.
This one’s a pure thrill ride that magically balances out disparate elements in a sleek package of fun — both gore and laughs click into place perfectly to guarantee a hoot of a time.
